Artists in residence

Each month we welcome a new resident artist to set up a canvas or workbench in the grounds and offer art lessons to our guests. With heavenly gardens and an extensive estate to inspire that ‘inner artist’, why not stop by the art pavilion next to the lake for a chat or sign up for customised lessons? All supplies are included in the fee.

Kathy Miller

Using ink, watercolour, collage and camera, Kathy Miller abstracts natural and imagined landscapes, exploring and communicating the substance of the immaterial, of experience, and of transformation. Thirty years as a typographer and designer guide her hand while significant and profound life experiences provide a deep inner compass. A much-awarded creative director known for instinctive contextual thinking, imaginative discovery is at the heart of her practice. Nicholas Todhunter

Nicholas Todhunter trained at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy—the only atelier in Europe dedicated to teaching traditional realism. Over the course of three years, he immersed himself in the study of drawing and painting, mastering the visual language and techniques of the great painters of past centuries. Following his studies in Florence, he moved to Venice, where he established himself as a portrait and landscape artist. Today, Nicholas divides his time between his home in Somerset and the timeless beauty of Venice, and exhibits his works throughout Europe and America.

Marisa Curatolo

Marisa is a multidisciplinary artist based in Canada. Her creative journey began in an unexpected place—the kitchens of Paris, where she worked as a train cook before going on to establish a renowned cooking school. Her transition from the culinary arts to painting has been a natural evolution of her desire to craft immersive, sensory experiences. Over time, her style has shifted from classic realism to a more expressive, dynamic, and playful approach, where bold colors and rich textures take center stage. Drawn to the beauty of nature, she finds her greatest inspiration in florals—an extension of her deep passion for gardening and floral design. Through her work, Marisa seeks to capture the fleeting essence of nature, encouraging viewers to pause, appreciate the moment, and reconnect with the world around them.
