Gretchen Andrew

Gretchen’s paintings, which recall stylistic elements of Van Gogh and her contemporary mentor Billy Childish, are the physical manifestation of an artistic process that isn’t obvious on the surface. Her current series IT’S MY FUTURE & I WANT YOU THERE includes paintings about places, feelings and people she wants in her future alongside manipulated search results that make it appear as if this desired future is already a fact. She encourages us to use art to inform a personal and universal positivity about our future selves and the world we hope to manifest.

Gretchen (Los Angeles, 1988) has completed projects or exhibitions with The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, The V&A Museum, The Photographer’s Gallery, The British Film Institute, Cambridge University, Arebyte, Cape Town’s A4 Arts Foundation, The British Arts Council, The White Building, Ace Hotel, The London Film School, and Whitcher Projects.
