Tom Byrne is a contemporary artist, who studied both in the Bauhaus tradition and under the Irish abstract expressionists. His work has been described as socio-political and is influenced by Harry Clarke, Jack Yeats, Kandinsky and Rothko.
Byrne began an abstract form of painting when he split from old artistic movements which he calls Fluidism. He worked with the underground Punk Artgroup, designing large scale sculptures, and during the 80’s, provided artwork for the music industry and launched his own punk fashion label.
His work is represented in a secondary Art schoolbook and has been collected by Trinity College, Patrick Kavanagh Museum and private collections from Ulick O Connor and Bob Geldof. You can find him in exhibitions in London, Berlin, New York, Paris, Bejiing, Manchester.
